Notifications for App invitations (shares) are only sent to users, not groups.
Setting up notifications
First, set up the notifications. To do so:- Go to Apps.
- Open the specific App you want to configure notifications for.
- Click on the view you want to receive notifications about.
- This action activates notification with default settings: daily, one item, item added.
- Click Notify on View changes (the bell icon
) - Click Settings on the success banner to modify the notification settings, or
- Click the bell icon. A drop—down menu appears. Choose Configure Notification.
- Select Type of Change.
- Choose the Change Threshold — the default option is Any Change, but you can also define a custom setting.
- Select the Frequency with which you want to receive notifications. The available options are:
- Daily.
- Weekly.
- Monthly.
Note:
App View notifications are supported only for Views up to 1000 results. You can’t create new notifications for bigger Views. If users already subscribed to receive notifications and the View exceeded 1000 results later, they receive an error email instead.
Email notifications
Box Apps automatically sends an email to a user when someone invites them as a collaborator to an App. The email notification contains basic information:- App icon — the default Apps icon.
- {inviting person} — name of the person who shared the App with you.
- {App Name} — name of the App you’re invited to.
- {App Description} — optional, only visible if it’s set.
- {Share message} — optional, only visible if the inviting person added one.
In—app notifications
When you invite a user to a specific app, they get a message in their Notifications section of the Box website or mobile application under the bell icon. In—app notifications contain the following information:- {inviting person}‘s avatar.
- {inviting person} — name of the person who shared the App with you.
- {App Name} — name of the App you are invited to.
- {Date} — when the {inviting person} shared the App with you.
