With Microsoft ending support for Internet Explorer browser, the login modal that previously used IE WebView component was replaced. Box Sync uses a modal dialog with a Microsoft Edge WebView2 component when logging into Box. This WebView component was updated in Box Sync 4.0.8085. To use this updated browser component, have your users install the Microsoft Edge WebView2 component on their device here: WebView2 - Microsoft Edge Developer.
  • We recommend installing the Evergreen Standalone Installer, so that the device will keep the Runtime up to date.
While Microsoft has not announced the end of support for the IE WebView component, SSO providers and other vendors may drop support for it, leaving users unable to login to the Box desktop.
