Terminal Services: Box Drive version 2.16 and later support Remote Desktop Services (RDS)/Terminal Services in the most recent 2 versions of Windows Server OS. Certain Box Drive features are not supported on Terminal Services. These features include:
  • Custom mount location - Box Drive has a technical limitation that you can mount the location only once in a machine. Since multiple people are logged into the server, they cannot share the common location.  Only the first person to log in can use the location.
  • Autoupdate - Autoupdate is not supported and disabled in a server environment. We require only the admin to update Box Drive as you cannot install Box Drive with an active session. In a server environment, anyone at anytime could be logged in and accessing Box Drive.
Note Admins can subscribe to Box Drive updates on the Box support site to get the latest updates on new Box Drive versions.  They can also get the latest released version from the Box website.  When no one is using Box Drive in their environment, they can install the update. Fast user switching Box Drive v2.16 and later also support fast user switching in Windows 10. Fast user switching is a feature of a multi-user operating system.  It enables people to switch between user accounts on a single computer without quitting applications and logging out.  Typical fast user scenarios  involve shared computers such as may be used in retail or school lab environments.
