Box enables you to allow your account holders to add metadata instances to a folder, and automatically cascade them to the folder’s contents. Using cascading metadata, your account holders can quickly add metadata to multiple files and sub-folders at one time. Enabling cascading metadata also allows your account holders to resolve metadata instance conflicts by either retaining or overwriting current attribute values. To enable cascading folder-level metadata for your enterprise:
  1. From your admin console, go to Enterprise Settings > Content and Sharing tab.
  2. Scroll down to the Cascading Folder Level Metadata section.
  3. Click Configure and select the option you want, then click Save. See the Cascading Folder Level Metadata section in Enterprise Settings: Content & Sharing Tab for details.
  4. Click Save.
