Geographic Activity Report

The Geographic Activity report lists locations from which your users did any of the following on content in your account:

Geographic Activity reports are run from the Insights page. To run a Geographic Activity report:

Geographic Activity report details

File format: comma-separated value (.csv) file and contains the last 90 days of data
Filename format: geographic_activity_run_on_YYYY-MM-DD-HH-MM-SS_Page_#.csv
Folder name format (each report run is placed in its own folder): SGeographic Activity run on YYYY-MM-DD HH-MM-SS
Filename and folder name time zone: the local date and time of the admin who ran the report or who set up the report schedule.

This section describes the data columns that are generated in Geographic Activity reports.

Data Column	Description
Date	The date and time, in the local time of the admin who ran the report or who set up the report schedule, of the event.
User Name	The value in the field in User Account Details of the owner of the item.
User Email	The value in the field in User Account Details of the owner of the item.
IP Address	The IP address of the computer or device from which the action was initiated. Box reports “Unknown IP” in the Geographic Activity report when you Spoof an IP address Use a VPN proxy Use Box’s internal IP address
Location	The location of the computer or device from which the action was initiated if it can be determined from the IP address. Box reports “Unknown location” in the Geographic Activity report when “Unknown IP” is reported in the IP Address column.
Action	The action that the user took. Values can be: Created Downloaded Edited Login Previewed Uploaded
Affected	The name given to the file or folder.
Affected Id	A number the uniquely identifies the file or folder.
Details	If there are any additional details to report on the user action, they are included here.
